PREGNANCY YOGA

Pregnancy yoga uses postures and techniques to support your growing pregnant body. These postures have been safely adapted to strengthen and support the muscles and ligaments of the hips, pelvis and lower back.

It is safe from 14 weeks of pregnancy onwards unless there are any health issues effecting your pregnancy.

You will be required to complete a health questionnaire prior to commencement of the class.


The sessions are held in 6 week blocks on a Wednesday evening 7.15-8.30pm and currently at Gorse Covert Community Centre in Loughborough.


The sessions will focus on positions for labour and birth, and will include practising breathing techniques to balance your mind and body and to encourage calmness and control. Lots of tips will be given be given to support your up and coming labour.

You will learn the benefits of using a yoga ball to support you in pregnancy and for labour.

The session always finishes with a lovely relaxation, including visualisations and mindfulness, and are very informal. They and provide a social network of support to meet other mums -to -be in a comfortable friendly environment, and there is always a chocolate treat at the end of each session!

Pregnancy yoga has been shown to improve sleep, reduce anxiety, stress and depression and may also help with pregnancy back pain and nausea.
